Harbour Island Bahamas
Java house provides luxurious yet relaxed accommodation for up to nine people in 5 bedrooms.
Externally, the house, cottage and hut are traditionally Bahamian and typical of historic Harbour Island with its original painted wooden siding. The property has undergone a total renovation inside and out and the fresh, contemporary interior is open-planned and bright with the perfect mix of antique and modern furnishings well chosen to suit the island ambiance without sacrificing comfort. All rooms are air conditioned there is Wi-Fi throughout the house as well as cable television in most bedrooms.
On the ground floor there are large sitting and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen with all modern amenities. The dining room opens onto a large covered patio with a sitting and bar area leading to a secluded garden.
On the ground floor, the verandah has a bar and lounging area, perfect for a morning coffee or sundowner. Moving into the house, a huge, washed oak dining table seats up to 12 people and tends to be the main gathering place. The gloss charcoal floors are an elegant feature of the sitting room which also has a slightly more intimate dining table.
On the first floor there are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a four poster bed with a rolltop bath and separate shower in the ensuite bathroom whilst the double and twin rooms have ensuite shower rooms. There is a large wooden deck, accessed from the second floor landing.
The second floor has two further bedrooms, one single and one twin, both with excellent views of the harbour and neighbouring islands. They share a bathroom and there is a tv/study area on the landing as well as a wooden deck with fantastic views over the harbour and one of the best places to watch the sun go down.
Finally, the basement is kitted out with a games room, pool table, bar and cinema room.
